Glenmore Living

Glenmore is in one of the more established areas of Kelowna, located in the winding hills to the north. This very family-friendly neighbourhood has breath-taking beauty.  Major developments are well-planned by city planners to make use of the natural landscape for parks and recreation which makes residents happier, and safer.

Glenmore - Real Estate

Recognizing the unique needs of various market segments, Glenmore offers everything from multimillion-dollar estate homes to mountainside family homes with lake views. You'll also find a large selection of condos perfect for the large student base at UBCO as well as adult living townhome communities.

Quiet tree-lined communities showcase quality-built homes that have been in the area for 20 to 40 years.  This well-aged neighbourhood is the popular choice of home buyers who wish to live in a natural landscape surrounded by trees and mountains - a place that is not, however, deprived of the amenities offered in other beautiful BC cities.

The residential real estate in Glenmore provides prospective homebuyers with a wide array of options from new and older homes, relaxing retirement residences, sophisticated condominiums to stunning townhomes.  Basic studio apartments are a great find that caters to Kelowna’s huge student population.

The prices of these inviting residential properties range from less than $250,000 to 5 million dollars.  The panoramic views of Okanagan Lake and valley add more value to mid to high priced homes as well as to luxury condos.

 Glenmore - Schools

Education is undeniably a need, not a mere want.  Parents who recognize this fact prefer a place that has schools in the area. Fortunately, Glenmore has this to offer. Elementary, secondary and post-secondary schools are all available.  Young couples with children and even adults who wish to pursue a college education can benefit from the globally-recognized curriculum offered in the local schools.  Institutions in Glenmore boast a friendly and supportive learning atmosphere.

Glenmore - Location

Historic Glenmore literally comprises the great valley.  Its location begins near the Kelowna International Airport, which runs along the north side of Highway 97 all the way to Kelowna’s downtown.  It is located east of Gordon Road, west of Spall and Dilworth Mountain and includes the St. Andrews Drive Area, High Road Area, and Mount Royal and Clifton Road Developments.

The diverse neighbourhood is divided into two regions: Glenmore and North Glenmore.  Each region is connected to Lake Okanagan and Highway 97. Thus, residents and tourists are accorded not only spectacular views but also convenient access and desired low traffic.  It only takes five to ten minutes to drive to Downtown Kelowna, five minutes to Orchard Park Mall, fifteen minutes to Kelowna General Hospital, and twenty minutes to Kelowna Airport.

Glenmore - Demographics

Glenmore is not densely populated like downtown. It is an ideal place for couples who want to raise a family and for individuals who prefer an uncrowded locale.  The May 2016 Census showed that Kelowna City had a population of 151,957, representing a percentage change of 8.4% from 2011. The percentage of the population aged 65 and over in Kelowna was 19.1% while the percentage of the working-age population (15 to 64) was 66.5% and the percentage of children aged 0 to 14 was 14.4%. Glenmore specifically has a population of close to 30,000 based on the survey done in 2016.

Glenmore - Amenities

Almost everyone wants to live in a place that offers amenities that make life easier and more convenient.  In our busy world, we want to find shopping centres, medical services, and amusement areas in our midst to keep pace with the demands on our time.  Glenmore features not only schools, but also parks, golf courses, community hubs, and hospitals just around the corner.

Parkinson Recreation Centre, located at 1800 Parkinson Way off Harvey Avenue or Spall Road, is well-loved by buffs who want to stay fit and strong.  Its facilities include a full-size gymnasium, weight training room, outdoor fitness equipment, cardio room, circuit training room, 25-meter swimming pool, children’s play pool, whirlpool and steam room. A multitude of exciting activities for families abounds in Glenmore’s modern facilities.

Knox Mountain Park is considered among the most important and well-known natural parks in the Kelowna area. Glenmore Recreation Park provides high activity sports fields, recreation and community facilities where time can be spent playing, walking, biking, and more. Well-groomed picnic areas, playfields, skateboard parks, playgrounds and gardens are amazing places to build a wonderful friendship with residents in the community.

Glenmore’s Golf and Country Clubs are the envy of many.  The Quail Course has become an Okanagan Valley favorite due to its magnificent par 72, 18-hole championship course with unique and dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views.  The lovely Kelowna Golf and Country Club, on the other hand, is a semi-private club that is distinctive for its towering ponderosa pines and careful grooming that make playing golf an unforgettable experience.
